 Newry Wheelers CC FPM League

2005 Rules & Regulations

Changes to previous rules are detailed in red

1. Helmets complying with current UCI regulations to be worn in all road races - including time trials.

2. Club colours to be worn in all races. New members may not have any gear, but should be encouraged to borrow some of the older design gear from existing members. Anyone failing to wear club colours will score no points for that event. Riders in their first year with the club are exempt from this rule. Time trials are excepted from this rule.

3. Races to start promptly. It is a riders responsibility to turn up on time.

4. Riders to compete all year in their pre-designated group. Should a rider not start an event in his group, he will score no points for that event - unless the group is a harder one, of course. No rider is permitted to race unless their name appears printed on the sign-on sheet.

5. Road race time gaps to be as follows:

Flat Circuits - limit - 3 minutes - intermediate - 3 minutes - scratch
Rolling Circuits - limit - 4 minutes - intermediate - 4 minutes - scratch
Hilly Circuits - limit - 5 minutes - intermediate - 5 minutes - scratch

To be reviewed as necessary as the season progresses

6. Should inclement weather conditions exist on the night of the race, the race may be postponed to the following Thursday. Any changes to be notified via the website at the latest 1 hour before start time.

7. The decision of the race marshals on the night is final.

8. Riders to obey the instructions of the race marshals at all times.

9. League points to be scored as follows:

1st - 12 points; 2nd - 10 points; 3rd - 9 points; 4th - 8 points; 5th - 7 points; 6th - 6 points; 7th - 5 points; 8th - 4 points; 9th - 3 points; 10th - 2 points.

Guest riders to compete as equals for points in all races. Guest riders points to go towards separate Visitors Prize. Newry riders points to count towards League title.

Time trial handicaps to be based on previous seasons personal best - adjusted to standard times as per CI/UCI regulations. A rider with no previous PB will be given a standard handicap target in accordance with their age.

10. Every person competing in the league to assist with marshals duties. Marshals will be allocated to a team and notified of their race at the start of the season. Anyone failing to do their turn will be suspended for the next 10 races. Should this involve running into the following season, then that rider will miss those races in the following season until his 10 race suspension is over.

11. Should a rider be unable to marshal in the allocated team, that member must engage a suitable exchange with another marshal team member, and notify the marshal's co-ordinator, Billy Campbell in advance.

12. Race competitors to obey the rules of the road at all times.

13. Riders to uphold the good name of the club at all times and to act in the best interests of the club as appropriate.

14. Guest riders to compete for a separate visitors league prize.

15. No rider is to receive outside assistance from anyone - whether they are involved in the race or not.

16. Dropped riders NOT to take any further part in the racing, especially on carriageway races where a rider can 'cut across' and rejoin.
